![]() initdb -D nas/db/postgres -X db_walĪnd that worked. I choose an easier way: storing the append log locally. I was hoping to disable that temporary and allow symlinks: sudo nano /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/Īfter doing all of that I still had some errors with symlinks while creating Postgres database. It's needed because by default Mac has System Integrity Protection and it won't allow editing system files. One couldn't make symlinks on remote drive by default: could not link file "pg_xlog/xlogtemp.71138" to "pg_xlog/000000010000000000000001": Operation not supportedĪfter rebooting in a safe mode (Cmd+R) I tried: csrutil disable My first attempt was about mount drive manually and create the database there: mount -t smbfs smb://M圜loudEX2Ultra/Public/db db You can solve this problem with cloud, but what about 2TB database? 20TB? One of the main reason for that is being able to work with a huge database.Ĭonsider Postgres, which runs on my Mac with 256GB, so any database larger than XX Gb is large enough to worry about. I bought the one from Western Digital, M圜loud EX2Ultra to be specific, and Cheaper disk space available, RAID and after all it's a small server, 1GHz/256MB in my case. Once you do that you should find you can access the shares. The solution is not to try to open the shares while you’re still connected as Guest - click the Connect as button in the top right and sign in as osmc/osmc for username/password, and check the box to save these. I know for sure that Mavericks has this problem and Snow Leopard does not, so it occurred somewhere between those two versions. The second issue is a bug in later versions of OS X that use SMB3 which causes exactly what you describe. I’ve fixed this last night so please run updates to get that fix. One is there was a bug in our udisks script that was preventing the correct access permissions being added to the automounter shares under some conditions - the symptoms are username/password refused for the automount shares but the osmc share would work. The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “osmc” can’t be found. However when I click on any of these finder closes and gives me the error: ’ I can see my osmc folder and my external harddrive. I see ‘Samba Shares on osmc’ under shared in finder.
